Hi I’m Tramell Forney, I’m a beekeeper and gardener in Union Mills of Rutherford County in North Carolina. I’ve continued a family tradition of beekeeping and selling some of the purest honey around. Beekeeping has been in our family for almost a century. I have established 18 hives in the past 5 years which all have swarmed from one original hive I caught in March of 2005. I've learned sustainable methods of my late great grandfather Taft Forney, as well of those of my grandfather Skippy A. Forney and uncle Skippy W. Forney who both have in the past kept bees but now have left it up to me.
My father assists me. My father is a Rutherford County native but served in the United States Army which forced us to move around the world. When my father retired we moved back to his hometown, Union Mills. I've lived here for 9 years with my parents Tramell L. Forney and Sandra G. Forney, along with my sister Zoe Forney.
I am now attending NC A&T SU obtaining a 4 year degree in Agriculture Science, Natural Resources (Environmental Horticulture). I am in CFFA at NC A&T SU and FFA Alumni at R-S Central High School. I am also a student worker at NC A&T SU Farm under the Beef Unit, but I also work in other units from time to time. From that point I hope to earn a job within USDA and give back to the County that has taught and given me so much.
Our Farm is made up of honeybees, gardens, equine, and poultry. Our Farm is located on a mountain, to many in the area know as Forney Mountain, Union Mills. For any questions contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org .
