DeerHaven Hills Farm, LLC is a certified organic blueberry and muscadine grape farm in the rolling foothills near Tryon, NC. Gail Blate and her late husband, Michael, had been natural health educators, and concerned with self-health, sustainability and protecting the environment for the last 35 years. They had always grown part of the food they consumed, so for them, growing organically was the only way to go. And since blueberries and muscadines grow well in western NC, are relatively cold hardy, more drought tolerant and pest and disease resistant, they were good choices for organically grown perennial fruit. Gail sells her fruit mostly through Farmers Fresh Market, local health food stores and wholesale buyers.
