Wright's Family Farm

Wright Farms is a family farm located 15 miles south of Whiteville on some of Columbus County's richest farmland.  We have served the community for over 200 years, originally operating as a lumber and grist mill, but transitioned more to a conventional farm as times and needs changed.

Taking care of the land through sustainable farming is a top priority.  We have honey bees to aid in crop pollination.  Organic fertilizers are used almost exclusively.  Also, cover crops are planted which puts biomass back into the soil.  This greatly reduces the need for chemical additives and herbicides.  Additionally, there are five poles of martins that further help with pest control.

We have farmed tobacco, soy beans, corn, sweet potatoes, as well as a few peanuts over the years, but are now moving more towards fresh produce as the need for more organically grown goods increases.  Our vision for this transition is to get back to our "family roots" by serving the community and providing safe and nutritious fruits and vegetables from our fields to your tables.  We invite everyone to check us out!
