Welcome to Down East Connect! As you probably know, we're a local farm-to-table non-profit, targeting the southeast region of North Carolina. Our program is a grassroots effort between Wilmington business-owner Joshua Heinberg and NCSU Cooperative Extension Service Horticultural Agent, Howard Wallace, to literally bridge the gap between urban consumers and rural producers by managing the online farmers market and organizing fresh from the farm deliveries from a wide variety of local farms on an efficient one-day-per-week schedule.

Free membership is available upon registration through one of our community connection points.

Take a look around.

Exciting changes are happening everyday on the 24-7 online marketplace. Local farmers are utilizing high-tunnels, low-tunnels, greenhouses, and state-of-the-art efficiency to grow healthy, affordable produce all year. Enjoy the fresh flavor of local farms combined with the convenience of online-shopping while supporting the sustainable efforts local foods producers.

Shop the market for your weekly grocery needs or browse the profiles of local farms to get to "know-your-farmer". What's more? Your support directly influences the availability of locally-grown produce. By making purchases through DEC, farmers receive a valuable service and a much larger profit margin than with other retail outlets.
